Daughters of India Launch Event

There’s nothing better than supporting local, and in the Northern Rivers we are spoilt for choice with some amazing local producers and creators. This month Husk supported local brand Daughters of India for their recent Spring Soirée.

Working directly with small factories in Jaipur, India, Daughters of India aims to create ethically and sustainably-made, beautiful clothing that supports and empowers the artisans themselves. The fabrics are hand-made using the traditional art of block printing, a slow process passed down by generations on local women. Upholding this tradition creates more jobs for locals, as these factories shun the cheap, modern methods used in fast fashion.

At Husk we can certainly relate to shunning methods of mass-production - harvesting sugar cane to make rum is slow work! Pure Cane cocktails were flowing alongside the floaty, hand-printed Indian fabrics on show. Shop Daughters of India’s gorgeous garms here.
